About Us

Merseyside Career Development and Training (MCDT) is a new dynamic organisation that dedicate itself to developing individuals' career prospects and sources placement opportunities for all students.

Facilities

The training rooms are based in the Fazakerley Federation building in Formosa Drive.

Facilities include:

Traineeships

These are a great way to build up your existing skills or learn new ones, and gain valuable work experience, with a real chance of a permanent job at the end.

At 16/18 you may not know what you want to do for the rest of your life, but if you start with a job placement and relevant qualifications’ you will have a great opportunity to get permanent employment. The industries listed are renowned for providing school leavers with great opportunities to learn their craft and progress, indeed many of the industry’s current leaders and senior managers started through having placements and progressing from apprenticeships.

At MCDT, we prepare young people straight from school or college for the world of work by providing the basic employability skills they will need. It could also include help with Maths, English and ICT if required. We will then place you with participating employers for up to 12 weeks’ work experience.

At any time during the three months’ work experience, if there is a suitable vacancy and your work and attendance is satisfactory, you may be offered employment. Otherwise, you will return to MCDT with new skills, work experience and a much valued reference for your CV, MCDT will then attempt to place you in another job in this sector.

Another benefit of a traineeship is the chance for both the employer and trainee to sample each other before making a formal contract to embark on an apprenticeship and work together, a form of ‘try before you buy’.

  • Health and Social Care – with 2 days placement

  • Hospitality 1/2 – with 2 days placement

  • Live Events and Promotions – with 2 days placement

All courses will be supported with Functional Skills: Communications, Numeracy, ICT
